Frederiksdorp is a former 18th century coffee and cocoa plantation. The first owner was a German from Prussia, Johan Friedrich Knöffel, to whom the plantation owes its name to this day. Frederiksdorp's history recalls both European and African traditions. Frederiksdorp is the center of the right bank of the Commewijne River. It has its own character with surrounding plantations, fishing villages, sea beaches, mangrove forests, bird swamps, dolphins and long cycling and hiking trails. This former plantation with original plantation houses and a police station has been declared a historic world heritage site and has been converted into an attractive holiday resort. The comfortably furnished homes are all equipped with air conditioning, WiFi and hot water. There is also a swimming pool with a beautiful pool deck and a large river terrace. Fruit is planted on the estate that you can pick yourself: oranges, mangoes, papayas and coconuts.
The plantation also has a good restaurant and a well-stocked bar where carefully prepared meals can be enjoyed. In the vicinity there are various excursion options, from educational (small museum) to active. Bicycles are also available for hire for independent exploration. Frederiksdorp is also an excellent base for trips throughout the Commewijne district.

transfer to smaller boats towards the beach. This trip through the swamp
area is about 20 kilometers long and takes ± 45 minutes. Let your senses
be stimulated by the flora and fauna. The guide will point out where the
caimans are hiding and the boatswain skillfully navigates there so that
you can see them up close.
Afterwards you will sail to the turtle beach. Here ± 8 km is walked for
spotting the sea turtles. Nothing is more beautiful than experiencing the
entire process of getting out of the water, digging, laying and covering
the nest! Afterwards you will return to Frederiksdorp. On your return you
can relax in the bar lounge before your first overnight stay.
